BEAUX-ART-DECO

Our design for the hotel embraced the opportunity to re-discover the unique origins of the Beaux-Arts architecture of the building, with a fresh lens. The building was built in 1919 during the precipice of the Art Deco period. Taking cues from the building’s history, we leaned into moody, modern interpretations, and discouraged exact replicas. We designed sculptural elements in a minimal fashion to let the simplicity of organic shapes have a voice amidst the subtle companionship of repetitive linear geometry. The result is refreshingly new, yet with a level of comfort only nostalgia knows.
